Jin Zhou was born in a musical family. A graduate of Shanghai Conservatory, Zhou was awarded a government scholarship in 2011 for studying abroad where she received her Master’s Degree from Hochschule fuer Musik und Theater Hamburg with Prof. Boris Garlitsky.
In 2009, Zhou was invited to be the Concertmaster at Asia Youth Orchestra to perform in the“09 Asia Tour” with Conductor James Judd. In 2012, she established the “Yùe” String Quartet. Later this year Yùe Quartet won the first prize of China national chamber music competition, selected to represent Shanghai Conservatory for various International Festivals, such as “International Summer Academy ” in Austria, and “Dvorak Chamber Music Festival” in Prag, etc.
In May 2015, Zhou won two international prices: First prize of 25th Young Musician International Competition “Citta di Barletta” String Division and Second Prize (first price was not awarded) of 1st Malta International Strings Competition. At the same month, she performed as a soloist with Taipei Philharmonic Orchestra. She was also the winner of StreichWerk International Competition in Berlin.
Zhou hold two Master’s Degrees both from Shanghai Conservatory of Music and Hamburg Hochschule. Currently she is teaching at Academy of Music of Suzhou University of Science and Technology and regularly gives Concerts and Masterclasses in Dolomiti Chamber Music Festival in Italy, Yasar University in Turkey and Harz Classix Music Festival in Germany. This March, Zhou played as a Soloist with China National Symphony Orchestra in Suzhou Culture and Arts Centre.
